Following tips will help you in eliminating aggravation of acne, if not cure.

  • Never pop up the acne. Popping or squeezing would not help you in any way. This may however inflame papules, pustules etc
  • Always use toiletries and cosmetics that are specially designed for preventing and reducing acne. These cosmetics are termed as non-comedogenic.
  • Use mild soap for washing your face. Wash your face at regular intervals such as after getting up from bed, after returning from outdoor activities like school, office or sports. Remember that too much washing or washing with hard scrubs can cause skin dryness and may damage your skin which can lead to triggering of acne.
  • Association of diet with occurrence of acne is a subject of debate. However, to be on safer side it is better to avoid things which you feel can promote the acne.
  • Tanning may help you in hiding acne for short periods. However, it is not a long lasting treatment. Extreme sunlight, used for tanning purpose can cause clogging of hair follicles by damaging the skin.
  • As in other diseases regular physical exercise can help you in preventing or controlling spread of acne in the way that exercise brings more oxygen in your body and also enhances blood circulation. This enhanced blood circulation and extra oxygen makes your skin healthy.
  • Acne may cause mental stress in some people. Getting adequate sleep is the best way to overcome this acne associated stress. Also, stress is considered as one of the factors that can trigger acne.

Take proper care ….of your skin before and after acne treatment. You might have achieved success in eliminating your acne by using various medications/treatments. Remember that acne has got no permanent cure though preventable and controllable.

Use sunscreens whenever you use medications as certain medications may increase sun sensitivity of the skin. It is advisable to use anti-acne medications in consultation with your physician or a dermatologist.
