Acne Scars and Treatment

Acne scars are mild type of acne. Scars are common in acne affected people. At times scars displays skin infection that occurs serious in nature. However, you should not be worried about this as acne scars are not that serious as you think. The best way to avoid scars is to prevent or reducing acne. If you treat your acne immediately after you notice you will avoid the risk of deteriorating the acne condition and subsequent scars. Acne scars are classified on the basis of their appearance. Following are the some of the common categories of the scars.

  • Box car scars: These types of scars are angular in appearance. These types of scars normally occur on cheeks and temple. These cars can be deep or superficial. Box car scars are identical to that of chickenpox cars, in appearance.
  • Ice pick scars: These scars are nothing but deep pits. These pits are usual and signify the acne scarring.
  • Rolling Scars: These scars appear like wave on the skin.
  • Hypertrophic scars: These are thickened in nature and are also termed as keloid scars…..

Acne Scar Treatment

These scars are treated as per the cause. There are number of medications available for removal of acne scars. Apart from preventing occurrence of scars, by treating acne in time, combination of certain Acne natural treatments is considered as best way to get rid of scars.

As said earlier, the scar treatment is determined after examining the cause and type of acne. Your skin’s nature also plays great role in deciding the scar treatment. Many experiments have been carried out to find out a solution for acne scars. Use of chemical peel for treating acne scars: Irregular skin pigmentation and superficial scars can be removed with less difficulty using this technique. Various types of concentrations and chemicals are used in this technique based on the type of skin and intensity of scars.

Laser Resurfacing: This technique is used for treating prominent acne scarring. High energy light rays are used for removing many skin layers. The outcome of this treatment is that skin becomes even.

Grafting/Punch Excision: At times scars are too deep and narrow pitted. This nature of scars makes it difficult for removal by derma-brasion. A surgical instrument called punch is used for removing such deep scars. The defect left by this procedure on the skin is closed by grafting skin. At times, punch excision is followed by laser resurfacing or chemical peel as per the type of scarring.

Collagen Implantation: This technique is used mainly in patients having lesser number of scars that has smooth edges and are soft and depressed. The scar is elevated to skin level by injecting collagen under the lesion.
